Geetar... tips, talk, tunes, treasures

Takeoff Lick...

I'm a lifetime student of the guitar. I started playing at the age of 8, and now, after years of playing, I still feel there's much to learn.

I've dabbled in many genres and have favorites in each field. Though I rarely try to duplicate another guitarists licks and chord voicings during my own performance, I study these lines during my own practice time and ask questions such as -- what makes them sound interesting, how do their melodies relate to the song's harmonic structure, and... like, whoa... how the hell did they do that?

There are so many great players in the world today. However, music is not a competition and there is no "winner". Neither is music a static entity, no longer evolving and rigidly defined. Music is like a book in progress, and I've found that many musicians with limited knowledge or technical abilities, still contribute great chapters.

With over 60 years of study, I have a few things that I'd like to share with other players and that's what this site is for. You can expect a few theory discussions, some great images of guitars, a bit of geetar-gossip, opinions, recollections. Most of all, I like to peek under the hood, so to speak -- what is the mental, emotional, and "spiritual" process. There are also links to the videos that I've created including a couple of performances, some practice suggestions, and a few live interviews with some great guitar players.
